Sasquatch Chronicles: The 500th Show Preview (Les Stroud)

I just got back from a trip to southern Oregon where I had the opportunity to sit down with Les Stroud, whose interview will be featured on our 500th show. We’ll be discussing everything from his evolution into “Survivorman” and the hurdles overcame as the show developed, to his views on what he likes to call the “phenomenon” of Sasquatch and behind the scenes insight to some of the things left off camera during filming.

Les has always fascinated me, and I am so appreciative of his hospitality and his willingness to join us on the show. He is a truly down-to-earth and genuine guy, and it was such an enjoyable experience to spend the afternoon with him.

“Best known as the Canadian Screen Award winning producer, creator and star of the hit TV series Survivorman (OLN Canada, The Science Channel US, Discovery Channel International, City TV (Rogers) Canada), Les Stroud is the only producer in the history of television to produce an internationally broadcast series entirely written, videotaped and hosted alone. With Les known as the original genre creator of ‘Survival TV’, Survivorman is one of the highest rated shows in the history of OLN Canada, the Science Channel US and Discovery Channel US and remains the highest rated repeat show on the Discovery Channel. Survivorman is licensed for broadcast worldwide, with ratings in the US hitting 2 million on individual episodes. He has been nominated for 24 Canadian Screen Awards (formerly the Geminis) and has won for Best Writer (twice) and Best Photography.

The survival skills imparted from watching Stroud’s television programs have been cited by several people as the reason they lived through harrowing wilderness ordeals”
